What are the characteristics of the EDEM network, and are the members satisfied with the structure and work? This is what was sought to find out by sending out a survey to all members. The survey had 95 respondents and it was sent out and processed by Péter Hegedűs.

The following text will provide an overview of the some of the main findings, one of which is the conclusion that members are quite positive about EDEM’s structure and communication so far, and they especially appreciated the training opportunities.

A broad range of characteristics define the EDEM members

Many professions are represented in the EDEM, which is a great asset for the collaborative work.  It was also found that most of the respondents felt that they live in a country where dementia care needs to be improved. Most members have joined with the purpose of sharing information, extending their knowledge on ethical dilemmas in dementia or building their network.

The quality of communication is satisfying

Good communication is vital in collaborative work. Therefore it is positive to see, that most members are either satisfied or very satisfied with the communication between network members and with leaders. None the less we still hope to improve the quality of communication even more.

The training activities are great – but they could be held more frequently

When it comes to the EDEM Cost Action work that revolves around training activities, it was found that most members were satisfied with the  topics and contents of trainings. Although the frequency of both online and personal trainings was satisfying, it was also indicated that more would be appreciated.
