We are pleased to announce that a new article developed by members of Working Group 1 has just been published in Dementia: The International Journal of Social Research and Practice. The article has been developed by Anthony Scerri, Frederik Schou-Juul, Rosa Silva et. al under the title ‘Ethical issues associated with assistive technologies for persons living with dementia and their caregivers – An overview of reviews.’.
This article offers the first comprehensive overview of reviews examining ethical issues associated with assistive technologies for people with dementia and their caregivers. Drawing on reviews published over the past two decades, it categorizes key ethical concerns, such as autonomy, privacy, and equity – while also identifying contextual, philosophical, temporal, and geographical factors that shape the ethical debate.
The article provides an important resource for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working in the field of dementia care and technology design. Congratulations to the authors with this great new publication. We encourage everyone in the network to read and share the article – it’s an important contribution to our ongoing discussions and work!
